Employees of a game shop thought they had stopped a robber from looting Pokemon cards, until he suddenly pulled a gun.

The hooded thief walked into Into the RetroVerse in Colton, a suburb of San Barnardino, California, on Saturday and casually walked behind a shelf.

One employee spotted him acting suspiciously and confronted him, and along with the other two in the store tackled him after an exchange of words.

'I just need some money, bro, chill... I need it more than you do,' the bald bandit said.

One of the employees responded: 'Yeah? We're not gonna let you f**king rob us, dude.'

After a scuffle in which the robber is thrown to the ground, he pulled out a gun, pointed it one of the trio, and demanded they get off him.

'You f**king baby, you f**king b***h,' he said as the staff backed away and put their hands up, one saying 'sorry bro, sorry'.

The robber demanded their phones as they lay on the floor, then looted the shop of $3,000 to $5,000 worth of Pokémon cards and left.

One of the staff said he lost his phone in the fight and later found it.

The robber appeared to be limping slightly as he left the store.

The owners of the store posted security camera footage of the robbery to the shop's social media pages, asking if anyone recognized him.

'Yesterday this piece of s**t comes in goes straight into where the Pokémon product was and starts taking it,' they wrote.

'Our employees decided to step up until this coward pulls out a gun and starts acting tough. If anyone recognizes him please please let us know.'

One Instagram commenter wrote that they should give police the footage as it showed the robber's face.

But the owners replied: 'They’re useless.'
