Claire Danes came prepared for a grey day in New York City.

The Homeland actress, 45, brought along a grey umbrella for her leisurely stroll in the Big Apple on Wednesday.

She bundled up in a white jacket and for extra warmth, looped on a grey scarf.

Her blonde hair whipped with the breeze as she strode along the pavement in her grey trainers.

The actress finished off her look with leggings and appeared to forgo the makeup routine for the day.

The outing comes several days after Claire celebrated her milestone 45th birthday.

Lately, fans have been able to catch the iconic actress on the Hulu miniseries Fleishman Is In Trouble.

She was recently nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for her role as Rachel Fleishman.

Her latest role comes two years after the end of her hit spy series Homeland.

The critically acclaimed show aired from 2011 until 2020.

Danes started playing bipolar CIA operative Carrie in 2011. The eighth and final season of Homeland aired in 2020.

That same year Danes looked to the future.

Danes told The Hollywood Reporter, she was not sure what was next: 'I don't know where to start, but I should play somebody decidedly sane.'

On a personal level, Claire explained: 'I need this last season released into the world before it really ends for me, and then I'm sure I'll surface eventually.'

She ended up starring in Fleishman Is in Trouble then Full Circle.

Her plan to find 'somebody sane' refers to Carrie's bipolar disorder, which has remained an intense wild card in the series' plot throughout the seasons.

When reminiscing about the dawn of the award-winning Showtime thriller, which became immediately and hugely successful thanks to brilliant reviews and viral word of mouth, the My-So-Called Life star says it all took her a bit by surprise.

'Three episodes in, people were literally running out of stores, charging me with enthusiasm,' she remembers.

'I'd never experienced that before. My So-Called Life had this amazingly rich afterlife, but there wasn't that appreciation as it was airing,' she said.

Aside from MSCL, of course, Danes had mostly enjoyed appearing in films like Romeo + Juliet, The Family Stone and Stardust before returning to television in the masterful 2010 HBO film Temple Grandin.

That role won Danes both a Golden Globe as well as a Primetime Emmy, and it was a sign of things to come — over the next two years, she won both those trophies a second and third time for her performance on Homeland.

Claire is married to Emmy-nominated actor Hugh Dancy, who has appeared in projects such as Hannibal, Elizabeth I and The Big C. She and her husband have three children.

Dancy also had a role on Homeland.
